About Fat Pibble.
Clinical behavior consulting and cooperative care for calmer vet visits and easier days at home.
I help dogs, cats, and the people who love them feel more successful at the vet and at home. My approach blends clinical behavior training with cooperative care so pets learn consent-based handling, clinics feel supported, and guardians get practical steps that work.
Who I Am
I’m James Strauss, a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT), Certified Dog Behavior Consultant (CDBC), Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA), and Karen Pryor Certified Training Partner (KPA-CTP). I specialize in the intersection of medicine and behavior, prioritizing patient welfare, advocacy, and cooperative care in every interaction.
Education and Credentials
I hold degrees in biochemistry, veterinary technology, and paramedicine, and I’m pursuing a second degree in neurobiology and behavior. I completed the Applied Animal Behavior program at the University of Washington, deepening my work in learning theory, ethology, and behavior modification. I am Fear Free Elite, Cat Friendly Certified, and Low Stress Handling certified.
How I help
My work centers on fear and aggression cases, preventive behavior support, and improving the veterinary experience for both patients and teams. Whether your pet struggles with exams, nail care, handling, reactivity, or vet-visit phobia, you will get a practical plan, coaching, and clinic-ready skills that translate to easier days at home. Small wins add up.
Belief
Behavioral health is inseparable from medical health. My goal is compassionate, evidence-based care as the standard.
